Sunny weather and temperatures hotter than Ibiza could arrive next week despite Storm Dave bringing miserable conditions this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

According to the Met Office, temperatures could reach 21C on Wednesday in London, several degrees hotter than Ibiza which is forecast to see highs of 18C.

It comes as Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales, and parts of northern England are due to come under warnings from Saturday evening until the early hours of Easter Sunday, due to Storm Dave.

Gusts of 50 to 60mph are expected widely across all warning areas, with 60 to 70mph winds possible in exposed locations. Heavy snow will accompany the winds in northern Scotland, where “blizzard conditions” are forecast.

A yellow wind warning comes into force at 5pm on Saturday for areas in North East England, North West England, South West Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde, Wales, and Yorkshire & Humber and will remain in place until 7am on Sunday.

The Met Office deputy chief forecaster Tom Crabtree, said: “Storm Dave will form and rapidly deepen on Saturday as it approaches the UK from the west.

“As well as strong winds, Storm Dave will also bring heavy snowfall over the hills in northern Scotland where up to 10-20cm of snow could accumulate. Along with the strong winds this will lead to blizzard conditions. Elsewhere there will be heavy spells of rain as the system moves through eastwards across the UK.

“With Storm Dave a few days away, people should prepare their property for the strong winds and keep updated with the latest weather forecast as the weather warnings are likely to be updated.”

But the Met Office has forecast warm weather on Tuesday with highs of 18C and Wednesday which could reach 21C – that would surpass the hottest day of the year so far, which was 20.9C in Gogerddan near Aberystwyth on March 18.

Manchester and Glasgow are also predicted to see temperatures reach 18C on Tuesday.

However, by Thursday temperatures are forecast to drop back to 14C in London and 11C in Manchester.
