Grey’s Anatomy stars Caterina Scorsone and E.R. Fightmaster appear to have translated their on-screen chemistry off-screen.

The pair — whose characters, Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Scorsone) and Dr. Kai Bartley (Fightmaster), dated briefly in seasons 18 and 19 of the long-running medical drama — were seen Monday reportedly leaving the Highly Likely cafe in Los Angeles hand-in-hand after enjoying lunch together.

In paparazzi photos published by E! News, Scorsone, 44, is wearing a green shirt emblazoned with the word “oui” and a matching green baseball cap, while Fightmaster, 33, is wearing a white button-down, brown slacks and a baseball cap.

The Independent has contacted Scorsone’s and Fightmaster’s representatives for comment.

Scorsone was previously married to musician Rob Giles from 2009 to 2020. They share three daughters: Eliza, 13, Paloma, 9, and Lucinda, 6. The actor has been a longtime cast member of the hit drama, making her first appearance in season seven in 2010 as the younger sister of the late Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). She also starred on the six-season Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice, from 2010 to 2013.

Following the latter’s conclusion, Scorsone joined Grey’s Anatomy permanently in season 11.

Meanwhile, Fightmaster was introduced as Grey’s Anatomy’s first nonbinary doctor in season 18. Their character worked as a neuroscientist at the Grey Center for Medical Research in Minnesota, where Amelia and her sister-in-law, the titular character Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), commuted back and forth from Seattle to conduct research on the cure for Parkinson’s Disease.

During their time together, Amelia and Kai grew close, eventually embarking on a long-distance relationship. They ultimately broke up in season 19 after Kai left for a job in London.

“From the minute I told you about London, which is the biggest career opportunity of my life, you have made it about you,” Kai said to Amelia, before exiting the series. “I love you, but—.”

“‘But.’ That’s what people say before they abandon you,” Amelia responded.

Kai marked Amelia’s first significant queer relationship on the show. Up until that point, she had only been in significant relationships with men, including Ryan Kerrigan, with whom she welcomed her firstborn, the late Christopher Shepherd, and Dr. Atticus Lincoln (Chris Carmack), the father of her son Scout.

However, since their split, Amelia has had relationships with Dr. Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales) — whose devastating death in the season 21 finale led to Scorsone’s extended break from the series due to cost-cutting measures — and her current fling, Dr. Toni Wright (Yellowstone’s Jennifer Landon), a former med school crush.
