Iran has shared disputed footage of an alleged strike on a US F-35 jet, in what would be the first instance of an American aircraft being hit since the conflict began.
Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for US Central Command, said the jet was “flying a combat mission over Iran” when it was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday (20 March). Hawkins said the aircraft landed safely and the incident is under investigation.
According to the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the stealth jet was struck by air defence systems over central Iran in the early hours of Thursday.
Shortly after the reported strike, Donald Trump told reporters in the White House that “nobody is even shooting at us”.
