The Philadelphia Eagles have added Andy Dalton to the quarterback room, trading to bring the Carolina Panthers backup to the NFC East.
The 38-year-old will support Jalen Hurts in the 2026 campaign, with the Eagles sending a 2027 7th-round pick to the Panthers to get him.
Dalton had been in Carolina for three seasons, most recently backing up the team’s 2024 No. 1 Draft pick Bryce Young at quarterback. And after a rocky start to his NFL career, Young looks like he has found his feet as the starting quarterback.
It remains to be seen how Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will order his quarterback room behind Hurts – he also has Tanner McKee at his disposal, as things stand. It’s not out of the question that he could now be traded.
The Eagles went into the 2025 campaign as Super Bowl champions but lost in the NFC Wild Card round 23-19 to the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.
Dalton is best known for his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, who picked him in the second round of the 2011 Draft.
Dalton made three Pro Bowls during his first nine seasons in Cincinnati. He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints.
