Tom Bellamy’s mum made a joking attempt to find him a girlfriend following his victory at Cheltenham Festival.

Bellamy rode the 40/1 shot White Noise to victory in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle on the third day of the festival.

White Noise had powered through to claim the win by multiple lengths.

ITV Racing’s Matt Chapman caught up with Bellamy’s mum Sue trackside to get her initial reaction to his triumph.

‘What dreams are made of, it’s just amazing,’ she initially responded.

‘A big price, great for the yard, the lads, lasses, everybody – and the mother who has to put up with him on the way home when things have gone badly.’

The ITV interview then referenced an off-air conversation, prompting her with the comment ‘You were saying the result of this win might mean he gets what going forward’.

Sue offered a joking response, quipping: ‘Girlfriend maybe. Anybody out there, he’s a nice lad.’

Bellamy had earlier claimed the shock Cheltenham victory ‘tops his whole career’.

The 31-year-old jockey had guided White Noise to success, overcoming 1/1 favourite Bambino Fever.

‘Honestly, I’ve waited my whole life for this day, I’m genuinely speechless,’ Bellamy told ITV.

‘Great performance from a really likeable filly. This tops my whole career, not just my season.

‘I’m nearly crying here, I’ve been bunking off school when I was a kid to come and watch Cheltenham, and I can’t believe I’m walking off at the top here.’

Place de la Nation and Oldschool Outlaw had proved the closest challengers to White Noise, coming across the line second and third respectively.
