Inclusive training event to help Belfast hospitality businesses improve accessibility for disabled guests

Local businesses are encouraged to take part in this training session on disability awareness, accessibility and inclusion in hospitality.

This event is part of Belfast City Council’s Embrace the Inclusive Spirit tourism programme and has been co-designed with disabled people.

Attendees will take part in guided discussions, group activities and hear directly from disabled guests about the barriers they face and the changes that would help them enjoy eating and drinking out more often. Participants will explore inclusive language and discover what disabled guests need to know before visiting a venue.

There will also be an opportunity to try practical exercises such as sighted guiding, using simulation spectacles, crutches and communication cards, offering a hands-on perspective on accessibility.

The aim is for local businesses to leave this training with practical tools and a clearer understanding of how small adjustments can create a genuinely inclusive experience for every guest.
