The Seattle Seahawks have handed star wide receiver Rashid Shaheed a massive three-year extension to stay with the franchise.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the 27-year-old will earn $51 million over the next three seasons, a deal that includes $34.7 million in total guarantees.

The agreement effectively pays Shaheed an average annual value of $17 million, rewarding the former undrafted star for his role in Seattle’s recent championship run.

The move comes after speculation that the two sides were far apart in negotiations, with the Raiders reportedly looming as a significant threat to lure him away.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak, who previously served as Seattle’s offensive coordinator, was thought to be a primary candidate to launch a move for Shaheed.

The deal has already split opinions on social media, with one fan writing on X: ‘Did Seattle just hand out the most desperate overpay of the offseason?’

Another fan said: ‘34.7M guaranteed for a WR whose ceiling is still unproven? Bold move by Seattle.’

‘Have we forgotten the 2024 season already? I love Shaheed, but this contract is a luxury Seattle might regret,’ another user wrote.

The re-signing provides a much-needed boost for the front office following the high-profile loss of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to the AFC.

Walker, who dominated the postseason with 313 rushing yards and four touchdowns, agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.

Shaheed, meanwhile, joined Seattle during the 2025 season via trade from the New Orleans Saints. He finished the 2025 campaign with 59 receptions for 687 yards and two touchdowns.
