Paul Mescal’s mother has shared the moment that her son told her that their family’s lives were about to change ahead of the actor’s superstardom.

Appearing on This Morning on Tuesday (3 March), Dearbhla Mescal recalled the phone call she received from her son as his show Normal People became an instant overnight success during the Covid pandemic.

She said the actor rang her whilst running in London in spring 2020 and told her: “Life is going to change. I don’t know what way it’s going to land… but whatever way that does we’re going to be together.”

The 30-year-old has since been nominated for a plethora of awards including an Oscar and a Golden Globe. “I think he’s found his place,” she smiled.
