Want to explore the UK’s historic sites and natural beauty spots without breaking the bank? A National Trust discount code can help you enjoy more-affordable access to more than 500 breathtaking locations across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We’ve rounded up the latest National Trust membership discounts, plus saving tips for staycations, family days out, gift shop buys and more.

Up to 25 per cent off with the senior concession

As a thank you to loyal members, the National Trust has a 25 per cent concession for senior members aged 60 or over who have been members for at least three consecutive years. That is £24 or more in annual savings with an individual senior membership for £72 or £120.60 for a joint senior membership.

Senior memberships cannot be completed online. To redeem this discount, please call the National Trust at 0344 800 1895.

Free guest pass with direct debit memberships

Select annual direct debit as your payment method when getting a new joint, family, individual or young person membership to qualify for a free guest pass. The guest pass is valid at select locations and the member who claimed the benefit must be present. Make sure to check if the National Trust place you want to visit accepts guest passes and whether or not there are any pre-booking requirements.

Young person membership discount

Individual memberships normally cost £96 a year, however, National Trust offers 50 per cent off the young person membership. Anyone aged 18-25 years old can purchase a young person membership for £48.

Free parking at every National Trust car park

Another perk of a National Trust membership is free parking. This is available for everyone, aside from junior members under 17, and can save you between £3 and £5 on average per visit. Either scan your National Trust membership card or use the JustPark app to validate your parking.

First order discount code

Sign up for the National Trust newsletter and get 10 per cent off your first online shop order of more than £50. The offer applies to the National Trust online store, which stocks homeware, garden décor, outdoor gear, food and more.

You will also stay up to date on all the National Trust sales, important updates and upcoming events when you register for the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time if the communication is no longer relevant to you.

National Trust supporter discounts

  • 15 per cent off full-priced items at Cotswold Outdoor
  • 15 per cent off personalised photo products at CEWE
  • 15 per cent off Craghoppers orders
  • 25 per cent off the Anglepoise online shop
  • 20 per cent off the Forthglade online shop

Member options

Not sure which membership to choose? Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Individual membership: For solo explorers, starting from £96 annually
  • Young person membership: For 18-25 year olds, this option is just £48 per year – significantly less than an individual membership
  • Junior membership: For just £12 a year, the junior membership gives under-18s unlimited days, all at a pocket-money price
  • Joint membership: For two adults living at the same address, from £160.80
  • Family membership: For two adults and children up to 17 years of age, starting from £168.60 (or £103.80 for one-parent families)
  • Lifetime membership: One-off payment for unlimited visits – ideal for dedicated National Trust lovers

For those making a flying visit to the UK, the explorer pass is ideal. It offers a short-term membership for four, eight or 14 days, with prices starting from £36.

Member benefits

Here are the National Trust membership discounts and benefits, which are not available to day visitors:

  • Free parking at all National Trust sites
  • Access to more than 500 historic houses, gardens, parks and nature reserves across the UK
  • Complimentary National Trust handbook with information about each site
  • Free National Trust magazine subscription
  • Discounted entry to events and attractions on site, such as Christmas markets and light shows

Activities and events

The conservation charity also offers a huge range of free outdoor activities. Whether it’s stargazing, kayaking or rambling, you can choose from more than 900 activities across the UK. Download a number of scenic running routes, such as Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire, but, if you prefer pedal power, you can hire bikes for as little as £5 at select properties.
