The New England Patriots could part ways with star Stefon Diggs after just one season, according to a report.
Diggs, 32, helped lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl less than a month ago, but the wideout, who broke up with rapper Cardi B after the big game, could be set for yet another split.
Diggs would have to agree to a restructured deal, if he desires to extend his time in New England, according to MassLive.
The wide receiver would reportedly have to agree to a new contract to lower the cap hit from its present value of $26.5 million.
Diggs, who led the Patriots with 85 receptions and 1,013 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns in 17 games last season, signed a three-year deal worth $63.5 million last March.
The Patriots would save $16.8 million on the cap if they release Diggs and up to $20.8 million if they cut the 11-year NFL veteran with a post-June 1 designation.

The player is also guaranteed $6 million, which is due on March 13, and the team is ‘working toward a resolution’ and ‘should have this situation resolved in the coming weeks,’ according to the report from MassLive.
However, the report added that Diggs is expected to be ‘unwilling’ to rework is current deal, which could lead to the Patriots considering cutting him.
The franchise is said to already be discussing candidates to replace Diggs as quarterback Drake Maye’s favorite target.
The report comes amid a series of legal woes for Diggs, which, while they ultimately wouldn’t be a deciding factor, could be a consideration for the Patriots.
Last month, just days after losing the Super Bowl, Diggs pleaded not guilty to the alleged assault of his personal chef.
He is facing charges of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery over the alleged December incident.
After entering the not-guilty plea at Friday’s arraignment, Mitchell Schuster, who is part of Diggs’ legal team, told reporters: ‘We’re confident that after the facts and evidence are reviewed in this case, he will be completely exonerated.’
Dedham police accused Diggs of striking and choking the woman who worked as his personal chef over the first months of his debut season with the Patriots. The alleged incident is said to have taken place during a financial disagreement.
The wide receiver split from rapper girlfriend Cardi B around the time of the Super Bowl

Diggs has since been named in an unrelated defamation lawsuit stemming from a 2024 incident in Florida. The plaintiff, a former business partner, claims he falsely accused him of stealing a Ferrari. The accuser claims he was attacked at a nightclub in 2025 over those false allegations.
As if the Super Bowl, assault charges and lawsuit weren’t enough, Diggs also split from girlfriend Cardi B around the time of the big game.
Following speculation after the Super Bowl, the ‘I Like It’ hitmaker confirmed the speculation during her Little Miss Drama Tour.
It was just the latest blow in a turbulent year for the wide receiver on a personal level, with his family growing significantly in 2025.
Diggs welcomed daughter Charliee Harper with Aileen Lopera in April followed by two more children with other women.
Lopera recently dropped a paternity and child support lawsuit after DNA tests confirmed Diggs as the father, and the receiver has since acknowledged the child’s status.
Meanwhile, Cardi also gave birth to her first child with Diggs in November 2025, shortly after the couple publicly confirmed their relationship.
The rapper previously filed for divorce from her former husband Offset in July 2024 and shares three children with him: Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and one-year-old Blossom.
