Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is making moves outside the ring as he edges closer to the twilight of his career, with the undefeated star turning to overseas property investment in a bid to build a post-boxing future.

The 39-year-old Ukrainian – who has achieved undisputed status in two weight divisions and earned vast purses during a glittering career – remains one of boxing’s biggest attractions, but is increasingly laying the groundwork for life beyond the sport having just announced he knows ‘the exact date he will retire’.

Usyk has expanded his business interests through his Ready to Fight (RTF) platform by partnering with developers Avalon Bali Group on projects in Thailand and Bali.

The venture will see residential complexes built around a ‘performance living’ concept, blending luxury apartments and villas with wellness facilities and on-site training centres branded as Usyk Gyms.

While athletes investing in property is nothing new – particularly for fighters who have generated substantial wealth in the ring – Usyk’s move reflects a broader trend of elite boxers seeking to convert sporting success into long-term business ventures and legacy projects.

According to project details, developments in Thailand include OM Residence, where apartments are expected to start at around $85,000 with projected annual returns of roughly 12 per cent, and SIAM Residence, a villa complex priced between $255,000 and $305,000 with anticipated rental yields of 14 to 16 per cent.

Plans for Bali include a flagship project combining serviced apartments, sports infrastructure, wellness zones and smart-living technology, with a Usyk Gym positioned as a central feature.

The developments will also be connected to the Ready to Fight digital ecosystem, with the RTF token intended to offer platform utility for boxers and potentially provide future access within the property network.

Usyk said the partnership forms part of a broader ambition to expand Ukrainian business internationally and support athletes through his platform, though the projects also underline a clear commercial strategy as the heavyweight icon considers life after boxing.

His property venture is not the only sign of that transition.

The champion recently relaunched his promotional outfit Usyk17 Promotions, signalling a desire to remain influential within the sport by guiding the careers of younger fighters once his own time at the top comes to an end.

Speaking on Usyk 17 Promotion’s Instagram page today, Usyk said: ‘There’s a clear date when I’ll tell people: Thank you. An older fight can’t compete with a younger fight physically. Not in speed. You have to understand we’ve walked your path and now it’s the era of the younger guys.’

Yet despite the growing business portfolio, Usyk’s focus inside the ropes remains intense – with the heavyweight landscape shifting rapidly around him.

A long-discussed clash with Deontay Wilder failed to materialise, leaving the Ukrainian exploring alternative options as he plans his next defence.

The champion has been linked with a bout against Andy Ruiz Jr, while Agit Kabayel has emerged as a mandatory challenger following Usyk’s expected voluntary defence.

Meanwhile, the heavyweight division could yet be reignited by the return of Tyson Fury, who has publicly expressed interest in completing a trilogy with Usyk after their blockbuster encounters reshaped the modern heavyweight era.

Against that backdrop, Usyk’s business expansion highlights a fighter balancing present ambition with future planning.

Despite earning significant sums from high-profile title fights, the Ukrainian appears determined to translate sporting dominance into a diversified portfolio spanning promotion, technology and real estate.

Whether the property venture proves as successful as his achievements in the ring remains to be seen, but the move signals that one of boxing’s most disciplined operators is already preparing for the next chapter – even as he continues to pursue further glory in the heavyweight division.
