School kids in Seattle have been dealt a crushing blow after discovering that they will not be allowed to skip class to celebrate the Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX victory.

The franchise lifted their second-ever Super Bowl title on Sunday night after storming to 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Santa Clara, California.

As the city continues to celebrate the Seahawks’ achievement, preparations are stepping up for Wednesday’s championship parade.

However, school kids in the area will not be allowed to attend following a brutal statement from the Seattle Public Schools District which was released on Monday.

The statement read: ‘As the city plans celebrations, including a victory parade planned for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m., we want families to know that Seattle Public Schools will remain open with the normal early-release Wednesday schedule’.

The announcement also noted that ‘parade attendance will not be considered an excused absence’ by the Seattle Public Schools District.

Seattle school kids have been told they will not be able to attend the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX celebration parade on Wednesday

The news was confirmed by the Seattle Public Schools District, while Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson later revealed details of the parade and insisted: 'Now it's time to celebrate!'

It comes as a major blow for the Seattle school kids as, in each of the past three years, multiple districts were closed for Super Bowl parades for the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.

The event features a trophy ceremony at Lumen Field followed by a procession along 4th Avenue, occurring during standard school hours for most area facilities.

In a statement on Monday, Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson said: ‘This year’s Seahawks team brought all of Seattle together with the strongest, loudest, and most united spirit I’ve ever seen.

‘And [Sunday], they delivered in historic fashion, beating the Patriots and bringing a second Lombardi Trophy home to Seattle. Now it’s time to celebrate.

‘I’m looking forward to the parade this week, and I encourage everyone to come out and join the celebration – responsibly, together, and with pride.’

On the field, the Seahawks’ victory was fueled by running back Kenneth Walker III, who was named Super Bowl MVP after a dominant performance against New England.

Kicker Jason Myers also set a Super Bowl record by converting five field goals, becoming the first player to score over 200 points in a single NFL season.

Under Macdonald, the Seahawks transitioned from postseason sleepers to the league’s top target, securing the Lombardi Trophy in a decisive double-digit win.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX victory seems to have come at a significant price for quarterback Sam Darnold.

Despite the glory of finally lifting the Lombardi Trophy, the veteran signal-caller is reportedly set to actually lose money on the big game itself.

California’s notorious ‘jock tax’ laws mean Darnold will owe the state significantly more than the $178,000 league bonus he earned for the championship win.

According to financial reports from Sportico, the quarterback’s tax bill to the Golden State will reach a massive $249,000 following the Sunday night triumph.
