Patrick Mahomes Sr will remain behind bars until March after being arrested for violating the terms of his DWI probation this week, according to reports.

TMZ claims the father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is facing up to 10 years in prison over the violation, with prosecutors pushing for him to receive a decade-long sentence.

Mahomes Sr, 55, was handed a five-year probation sentence after being arrested for DWI for a third time a week out from his son’s 2024 Super Bowl appearance with Kansas City.

Yet on Tuesday morning he was booked into Smith County Jail after being reported by locals for drinking alcohol, something he was forbidden from doing as part of his probation.

According to TMZ, the probation violation report states that he had a high reading on his SCRAM alcohol ankle monitor on January 1.

Prosecutors also claim he failed to perform his community service at the required rate of three hours per month for a number of months.

However, the report also claims Mahomes Sr submitted urine tests on January 5 and 9 which both came back negative for alcohol.

After being booked into jail on Tuesday the former MLB pitcher is currently being held without bond.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on March 9, when a judge will decide whether or not to revoke his probation and send him to prison.

The judge has ordered Mahomes Sr to remain in the Smith County Jail until that hearing, meaning he will be behind bars for Super Bowl Sunday as the New England Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks.

Mahomes Sr was arrested for DWI again on the eve of his son’s fourth Super Bowl appearance back in 2024.

He was previously arrested for the same offense in 2008 and 2019, and was also banned from driving in 2024 after being found on the roads without a valid license.

After spending 10 days in jail, Mahomes Sr cut a plea deal with ‘intense’ supervision for the first 12 months.

The ex-baseball player did make it to the Super Bowl the weekend after the incident to see his son win his third ring, as the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.

Footage from the arrest in Tyler, Texas later emerged and showed Mahomes Sr ranting to cops that his arrest would cost his son the Super Bowl.

The younger Mahomes spoke about his dad’s third DWI arrest in ESPN docuseries ‘The Kingdom’, saying: ‘It was during that Super Bowl week. It became a story and so I had to answer questions about it.

‘I think just knowing that it hurt me, woke him up to know that like you can’t keep doing the same things.’

Mahomes Sr also agreed to be interviewed for the program and when asked how he felt about his actions affecting his son, he said: ‘It kind of hit home before the Super Bowl last year, when I got in trouble.

‘For him to have to answer questions about me, you know, was probably the most embarrassing thing that I’ve ever been through in my life.

‘I called him right after. I said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry that it’s taken away from your time and focus.” I made a vow that he would never have to deal with anything because of drinking because of me. I haven’t had a drink since then.’
