The Arizona Cardinals have officially hired Mike LaFleur as their new head coach after poaching him from their division rivals the Los Angeles Rams.

NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed the news on Sunday afternoon, revealing that the two parties have reached an agreement over a five-year contract.

The move marks a significant shift for the franchise as they look to overhaul the organization after a disappointing, three-win season in 2025.

LaFleur, who served as the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, becomes the latest branch of the Sean McVay coaching tree to land a top job.

The high-stakes appointment leaves Tom Brady’s Las Vegas Raiders as the final team in the NFL still scrambling to fill their head coaching vacancy.

Arizona acted decisively to secure LaFleur, the brother of Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur, to spearhead a complete overhaul of the franchise.

The hiring comes in the wake of the firing of Jonathan Gannon, who was dismissed a day after a dismal 2025 regular season concluded.

Gannon, who posted a 15-36 record during his tenure in the desert, has since moved on to become the defensive coordinator in Green Bay.

LaFleur arrives with a sterling reputation after leading a Rams offense that ranked No. 1 in the league in scoring and total yards during the 2025 campaign.

He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and held key roles under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco and Atlanta.

The move has already sent shockwaves through the NFC West, as LaFleur is now set to face his former mentor, Sean McVay, twice a year.

While the Cardinals have found their man, the Raiders remain in a waiting game that has become a serious gamble for Tom Brady’s front office.

Reports indicate that Seattle Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak is now expected to take the Raiders job after being linked to the Arizona vacancy.

The organization held their second interview with Kubiak on Saturday, which is said to have gone ‘well,’ according to Jordan Schultz.

As exclusively revealed by The Daily Mail, Tom Brady  and the Raiders had been pursuing John Harbaugh following his Baltimore Ravens exit – before the coach landed at the Giants.

Instead, the Raiders pivoted to Kubiak, who is now believed to be the favorite for the position in Sin City.

Brady, who has a minority stake in the Raiders, has called the Seahawk’s last two games for Fox, allowing the former quarterback a front row seat to observe Kubiak’s offense.

However, should they reach an agreement with Kubiak, they will have to wait until after the Super Bowl to get him in – given he will be on the sidelines for Seattle.

Further reports have suggested that, should he make the move to Las Vegas, there is a strong likelihood that he brings other Seahawks staff with him.
