Andre Patterson has been dismissed as the New York Giants’ defensive line coach following John Harbaugh’s arrival in the Big Apple.

New York has witnessed a bloodbath over the past few days as Harbaugh has begun making brutal changes after taking charge of the embattled franchise at the weekend.

The new head coach reportedly told a number of coaches that they will not be needed next season as New York looks to rebuild after yet another dismal campaign.

Among the casualties was said to be defensive line coach Patterson, according to ESPN’s Giants reporter Jordan Raanan.

The 65-year-old was hired prior to the 2022 season under Brian Daboll, who was axed by the Giants midway through this past season.

Patterson continued to coach the team through the 2025 season, despite being diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier in the year.

The veteran assistant continued to work closely with the team while undergoing treatment.

While the organization kept his diagnosis largely under wraps, several players said they discovered the news in the spiring.

Patterson went public with his diagnosis in December, long after the Giants had already been eliminated from playoff contention.

He told ESPN that he came forward as he wanted to raise awareness for prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.

‘Make sure you get checked,’ he told the outlet.

This past year marked Patterson’s 21st season in the NFL, most recently working with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Giants’ coaching staff.

He has also had stints with the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys.

On Tuesday, during his introductory press conference, the new coach said that the Giants have ‘great coaches… on this staff that we’re looking forward to talking to.’

But, according to ESPN, special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial and most of the existing defensive staff have been let go. Among them is defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who joined the Giants in 2022 and battled through prostate cancer this season.

SNY claimed that some coaches were told to clean out their offices without even having a meeting with the new head coach.
