University of Miami legend Michael Irvin received the Saturday Night Live spoof treatment ahead of the Hurricanes’ national championship game on Monday.

Irvin, the controversial ex-NFL wide receiver who spent his college days in Miami, has become famous for hyping up his alma mater in eccentric fashion on the sidelines, including with a bizarre celebration that sees him take off his belt and whip it.

And days out from their national championship showdown with the Indiana Hoosiers, the Dallas Cowboys icon was lampooned by American comedian Kam Patterson on the latest episode of SNL.

Patterson, wearing the same orange-and-green shirt he wore during Miami’s win over Texas A&M, played a hilarious version of the highly-energetic Irvin in a skit with host Michael Che.

‘My resting heart rate is a perfect score: 16,000,’ he said in the skit. ‘My mama was a hummingbird, and my daddy was a brick of cocaine!’

Che then mentioned that Irvin has been on the sideline throughout Miami’s playoff campaign, before the show cut to an image of him watching the Hurricanes on all fours.

‘I got to get out of here, I got to get to Miami,’ Patterson later said in his Irvin character.

‘The game isn’t until Monday?’ Che responded.

Patterson then joked: ‘Yeah, but I’m running there! I figure if I leave now, hop on 95, depending on what they’re in traffic, it should take me about six and a half hours!’

‘So, if you see an angry 60-year-old man running down Highway 95, well over the speed limit, with bugs all over his face, and an ass with the police tranquilizer darts, you’d better get out the way,’ he added.

Irvin, 59, was a three-time All-American during his time in Miami and captured the national title in his final year.

He was then drafted 11th overall by Dallas and went on to win three Super Bowls, before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Cowboys great has proven a controversial figure away from football over the years, including when he was sent home from NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage in 2023 after being accused of making inappropriate comments to a woman in a hotel, which he vehemently denied.

Irvin was also accused of sexual assault over a 2007 incident at a hotel in Hollywood. Four years later, a settlement was reportedly reached in the civil lawsuit.
