The Atlanta Falcons are moving toward hiring former Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach, according to multiple reports.
Stefanski was one of eleven coaches who was interviewed for the position – which opened up after the Falcons fired head coach Raheem Morris mere hours after the season ended.
Before his hire was leaked, another candidate for the job, John Harbaugh, agreed to take over the New York Giants.
He takes over a team that finished 8-9 under Morris and missed out on the playoffs.
In the same move, the Falcons also fired general manager Terry Fontenot.
In addition to Harbaugh and Stefanski, the Falcons interviewed former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and former Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce as well as multiple offensive and defensive coordinators.
