The shocking extent of Sam Darnold’s oblique injury has been revealed just hours before their playoff showdown against the San Francisco 49ers.
On Thursday afternoon, the Seahawks added Darnold to the injury report, before he was later listed as questionable for the clash with San Francisco at Lumen Field.
Seahawks fans have been facing a nervy wait to discover the extent of Darnold’s injury and now it’s been revealed that the QB has not thrown a ball since Thursday.
However, despite the worrying news, the Seahawks ‘believe’ that Darnold will be available to start against the 49ers on Saturday, according to Adam Schefter.
The NFL Insider also revealed that backup signal caller Drew Lock took the reps over the past two days and is ready to step up incase Darnold is not fit in time.
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Friday that he is ‘really optimistic’ about Darnold’s recovery from the oblique injury he suffered at Thursday’s practice.

‘Talking about Sam, I heard what he said yesterday to you guys; I see it the same way,’ Macdonald said Friday. ‘We’re listing him as questionable.
‘Really optimistic he’s going to be able to play. Right now we’re going through all the protocol … just out of caution to make sure we’re ready to go.
‘We’ll test it out tomorrow and kind of make the final decision, but again, we’re optimistic he’s going to play.’
He also reiterated the point that Lock is ready to start the game, should he need to.
‘If [Darnold] doesn’t, or at some point he doesn’t, then [Lock is] ready to go, and that’s why Drew’s here. He’s doing a great job.’
Darnold guided the Seahawks to the top of the NFC West after they won 14 of their 17 regular season games.
The 28-year-old passed for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14 picks in his first season with Seattle as he earned a second straight Pro Bowl nod.
The 14-3 Seahawks and 12-5 49ers will kick off at 8pm EST.
