The New York Mets have snatched up one of the hottest free agents on the market with a mega-money move.
After missing out on target Kyle Tucker to the steamrolling Los Angeles Dodgers and drawing the ire of their fanbase, the Mets have finally landed their first superstar of the offseason.
New York and in-demand free agent Bo Bichette have agreed a three-year, $126 million contract, according ESPN.
The deal, which is still pending a medical, is said to come with two opt-outs and no deferred money.
The infielder can opt out after the first and second season. He would receive $47 million for one year and $89 million for two years, per reports.
The move comes as a massive boost for the Mets, just one day after the franchise lost the Tucker sweepstakes to the back-to-back World Series champions.

Bichette, who was a key member of the Toronto Blue Jays team that faced off against the Dodgers in the Fall Classic, is reportedly expected to play third base in Queens.
A two-time All-Star shortstop, Bichette hit 18 home runs and 94 RBIs for the Blue Jays in 2025. He homered off Shohei Ohtani in Game 7 of the World Series.
Bichette was injured last season in a Sept. 6 collision with Yankees catcher Austin Wells. It kept him out of the lineup until the World Series. He returned for Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and played second base for the first time in six years.
Bichette finished second in the major leagues to Yankees slugger Aaron Judge with a .311 batting average this season, hitting 18 homers with 94 RBIs in 139 games.
He’s twice led the AL in hits.
Bichette turns 28 in March and had played his entire career with the Blue Jays since they drafted him in the second round of the 2018 draft. The son of former big leaguer Dante Bichette, Bo Bichette is a career .294 hitter with 111 home runs and 437 RBIs in 748 career games.
The deal should keep the antsy Mets fans at bay for the time being, helping to soften the blow of missing out on Tucker.
The Mets had been battling the Dodgers and Blue Jays to land Tucker, who ultimately inked a deal worth $240 million over four years with Los Angeles.

And Mets billionaire owner Steve Cohen left fans enraged with a cryptic message in the aftermath of losing out on Tucker.
‘Let me know when you see smoke,’ the 69-year-old billionaire investor wrote in an X post on Thursday night.
Traditionally, white smoke emanating from the Vatican during conclave indicates a new Pope has been selected.
However, in this case, many baseball supporters interpreted his message to mean the arrival of a new star at Citi Fields. And as the news of Tucker’s signing broke, social media users claimed that the post had blown up in is face.
Yet, it now appears that Cohen could have in fact been hinting at the incoming blockbuster Bichette deal.
