Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis tied the knot at a stunning $3million Venetian-style villa in the Australian’s home town of Perth on New Year’s Eve.

The venue for their much-anticipated wedding had been kept largely under wraps in the build-up to their big day, but on Wednesday, guests were seen arriving at the luxurious Dionysus Villa located just a 30-minute drive north-east of Perth’s CBD in Swan Valley.

Over 100 guests lined the front garden of the five-bedroom manor and cheered Mewis and Kerr, as the couple shared a kiss after saying, ‘I do’.

It was a stunning location for the nuptials, with Kristie having revealed that the pair first set their hearts on the Dionysus Villa almost two years ago, just after they became engaged.

The property, which is nestled among some of Western Australia’s best vineyards, was sold back in 2021, with RealEstate.com.au reporting that the villa was sold for between $2,785,000 – $3,240,000.

The venue was also sold in 2001 for $626,000.

Speaking on the Mewis Squared podcast last week, Kristie had revealed her excitement to get married at the venue, branding it ‘beautiful’ while also adding that it had undergone an extensive refurbishment after it was last sold.

‘We have been engaged for a long time… it will be two and a half years when we get married, so we saw the venue a year and a half, two years ago and they’ve done so many renovations, it’s absolutely gorgeous, it’s everything we wanted it to be,’ Mewis said on the podcast.

The villa, which was built in 1976, sits on seven acres of land, with guests seen taking in the glorious Perth sunshine next to the pond situated in the front courtyard.

Upon arrival, visitors are struck by the building’s grand pilasters and arches that open up into the main lobby.

A marble render on the external walls and quartz balustrading add to the venue’s grandeur, with palm trees and a lush garden surrounding the exterior of the property.

The property has four master suites, with the largest bedroom boasting its own terrace, which opens up onto the front courtyard.

Each comes with its own ensuite bathroom, and have walk-in showers and state-of-the-art bathroom fittings. One of the bathrooms even has a tiled mosaic of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

The villa also has its own library, wine cellar and modern kitchen, which features two islands and an industrial-standard cooking station.

At the rear of the property, the villa opens up to a terrace area, which has its very own saltwater swimming pool, that is flanked by sun loungers and an alfresco dining area. Guests looking to detox can also jump into the commercial-sized steam room too.

It is a truly sensational property, with the main living quarters featuring embossed ceilings, chandeliers and some beautiful Italian marble detailing.

But that’s not all. Behind the gum trees that stand guard outside of the main villa sits the guest house. The detached building has its own entrance and comes with an open-plan living and dining area.

Wedding guests of Kerr and Mewis had arrived at the Crown Towers hotel earlier in the morning on New Year’s Eve, before they were transported to the venue via coach.

The party included some of Kerr’s Matildas team-mates, including Steph Catley, Alanna Kennedy and Mackenzie Arnold.

The ceremony was held in the front courtyard, with guests seen raising a glass to the happy couple.

‘We have been engaged for a long time,’ Mewis said, speaking to the Mewis Squared podcast about the venue.

‘It will be two and a half years when we get married, so we saw the venue a year and a half, two years ago and they’ve done so many renovations, it’s absolutely gorgeous, it’s everything we wanted it to be.’

But she admitted that she was a tad nervous about having to mingle with over 100 people on the day.

‘Obviously, it is a lot of people, I know people have a lot bigger weddings than that but that’s a lot,’ Mewis, 34, said.

‘For me to wrap my head around talking to 120 people in one night is a lot and the things that worry me is that I’m not going to be able to give enough time to everybody, so that’s what I’m stressing about right now.’
