A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 14-year-old boy sustained multiple stab wounds, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called at about 18:50 GMT to the Notte Street and Athenaeum Street area, in Plymouth, on Monday.

The force said the boy was taken to hospital, where he remained, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police said a 22-year-old man remained in police custody.

Police said: “Detectives continue to progress inquiries and there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

“Anyone with information which may assist the investigation has been asked to contact police.”
