Three players got ejected after a violent brawl erupted with less than five minutes to go between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders on Saturday night.

The Eagles held a 29-10 lead at the time and the brutal fight broke out shortly after Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley scored a two-point conversion for his team.

Punches were thrown by players on both sides, with Eagles guard and No 56 Tyler Steen swinging away before eventually getting surrounded by Commanders players.

They weren’t holding back either as they piled on on the Philadelphia man before eventually, enough players intervened to break it up. The referees, meanwhile had no more flags to throw.

When the commotion finally cooled, Steen was ejected alongside two Commanders players in defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and safety Quan Martin.

‘The chippiness has turned into a full on shoving match,’ Fox commentator Joe Davis said. ‘This is getting ugly. Look out, Tyler Steen is throwing punches.’

Indeed, it was Steen who got the most attention from the millions of NFL fans watching on – with many joking that he showed more danger than Jake Paul did 24 hours earlier when he fought Anthony Joshua in Miami.

‘Tyler Steen landed more punches than Jake Paul,’ one football fan quickly posted on X, while another said: ‘Next Netflix fight? Tyler Steen vs. Jake Paul.’

‘Tyler Steen decided to fight the entire Commanders defense by himself,’ another fan wrote.

Steen was escorted away from the field by the Eagles’ cult hero security officer Dom DiSandro, best known among the ardent fanbase as ‘Big Dom’.

The Eagles eventually won the game 29-18, clinching the NFC East title and in the process, finally extinguishing any chance the Dallas Cowboys had of playoff football.

The Commanders, meanwhile, are playing for pride from here on, with their hopes of the postseason long gone.

They had already shut down starting quarterback Jayden Daniels for the season and against the Eagles, backup Marcus Mariota got hurt too.

Mariota was shaken up at the end of the opening drive of the second half. He went into the blue medical tent on Washington’s sideline, then later jogged toward the locker room, and the Commanders said Mariota was evaluated for a concussion and cleared.

But the team then said he was questionable to return with an injured right hand. It meant that third-choice Josh Johnson took to the field from the third quarter against the Super Bowl champions.

Encouragingly for the Eagles, running back Barkley looks like he is finally reclaiming his best form as the season approaches January.

He scored touchdown and recorded another one of the 49-yard runs that he became synonymous with last season. Barkley ended the game 132 yards from 21 carries.

Asked about the fight after his two-point conversion, Barkley told reporters in the locker room: ‘This team don’t like us and we don’t like them either. It’s chippy out there, we have a lot of history. It’s the truth.’
