Some love stories start with a spark, others with a smile. For May and Bryan, it was both. Their journey is true proof that genuine love knows no borders, as it began in Australia, strengthened in Asia, and is now leading the couple to Africa, where they will celebrate their wedding.

The Meet-Cute: A Spark in Sydney

A few years ago, in lively Sydney, Australia, May and Bryan met at an event where strangers became friends, and friends became something more.

Bryan recalls the moment he first saw his future wife: “She stood out to me. There was a distinct beauty I couldn’t ignore.”

For May, the discovery was just as magical: “At first, I didn’t even know we shared the same nationality — which intrigued me. The more we talked, the more I realised we had so much in common. That first conversation stayed with me.”

From that night, their love grew in the little things: late-night food runs, city adventures, and heartfelt conversations that created an unshakable bond. Sydney was just the beginning, but their love soon grew bigger than the city itself.

The Unforgettable Proposal in Phuket

A few years later, on the golden shores of Phuket, Thailand, Bryan planned a proposal that would become unforgettable. With the sun melting into the horizon and the sound of waves around them, he dropped to one knee. May’s joyful “yes” echoed louder than the ocean.

“Thailand was perfect,” Bryan shares. “I had already planned to return to Ghana to propose traditionally to her family, so this was the first step into forever.”

Returning to the Roots: A Traditional Wedding in Accra

Now, their journey leads them home — to Accra, Ghana, where they will celebrate their Traditional Wedding. From the elegance of kente cloth and the heartbeat of Adowa drummers to the symbolic beauty of the Gye Nyame emblem and the grandeur of colourful umbrellas — their wedding will be a true reflection of love and culture.

“To be able to do the traditional wedding back home feels authentic and right,” May says. “We want it to be deeply Afrocentric, and it’s all coming together beautifully.”

From Sydney to Phuket and now to Accra, May and Bryan’s love story is proof that true love knows no borders — a journey of romance, culture, and forever.

A modern love, rooted in tradition.
