After a conversation about Halloween on his podcast, a recently unearthed photo showed Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce winning a costume contest.
Back in 2023, on an episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast, his brother Jason Kelce mentioned how the ‘only’ costume he could remember from high school was when they went as the Super Mario Bros.
“You can see how ecstatic I was to be Luigi, man,” Travis said sarcastically as a photo of the two in their costumes comes up on screen, revealing Travis’ frown.
Jason joked that, as the older brother, he “forced” Travis “into doing” the costume with him. “It was a good outfit,” Jason said, while Travis agreed, “It was funny.”
However, just days ago, a fan uncovered an image of the costume that showed just how good the outfit was.
A yearbook clipping revealed that Travis’ getup was good enough to win his high school’s Best Costume award.

Kelce won for his depiction of Luigi, while another classmate won for going as Rosa Parks
The clip showed a mustachioed Kelce standing alongside one of his classmates, Bianca Vann, who went as civil rights activist Rosa Parks.
That clip says: ‘Sophomores Travis Kelce and Bianca Vann were the winners of the costume contest at the 2005 Halloween festival, Oct. 31. Kelce was dressed as Luigi, a video game plumber, while Vann dressed as Rosa Parks.’
In 2024, the Kelce’s mother, Donna, spoke to US Weekly about her memories of the siblings in that costume.
‘It was kind of funny seeing the two of them because they were both over 6-feet tall at that point, so that was really a humorous thing to see,’ she told the outlet.
Donna added that Jason was ‘kind of salty’ that Travis won the contest.
