Derek Chisora announces his December opponent for final fight of his career

David Haye has confirmed that Derek Chisora will face Dillian Whyte in his 50th and final professional fight on December 13 in Manchester.

The heavyweight rivals, who have shared two memorable encounters in the past, have now reportedly agreed terms for a trilogy bout to close out Chisora’s 17-year career.

Speaking to The Daily Mail on Tuesday afternoon via highbet.co.uk, Haye revealed that the deal was reached swiftly and amicably between the two camps.

‘Talking about fights we’ve always wanted, it’s Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte three, for Derek’s last fight,’ Haye said.

‘I was chatting to him last night. It’s confirmed. He’s buzzing. They agreed terms like gentlemen, everyone’s happy with the split, and it’s going to be a fun one.’

He went on to add: ‘I think it’s a 50/50 deal, 60 goes to the winner, 40 goes to the loser which makes a lot of sense.’

Chisora, who turns 42 next month, has long hinted that his 50th fight would be his last on the professional scene.

The Londoner boasts a 36-13 record and last fought in August, when he beat American veteran Gerald Washington on points.

It was initially believed that rising star Moses Itauma could be Chisora’s next opponent, with both men set to feature on the same Manchester card.

Others, including Deontay Wilder and Jarrell Miller, were also linked. However, it now appears the long-rumoured trilogy with Whyte will headline the event instead.

The British pair first met in December 2016, when Whyte edged a split-decision thriller in Manchester.

Their rematch two years later ended in spectacular fashion when Whyte knocked out Chisora in the 11th round at The O2 Arena.

Haye, who fought and later managed Chisora, believes this third meeting will deliver another classic for boxing fans.

‘It’s like Gatti-Ward,’ he said. ‘No matter what stage they’re at, whenever these two fight, it’s going to be a war. From the first bell, they’ll be going at it. That’s what makes it so special.’

Chisora has not lost since his 2022 defeat to Tyson Fury and has picked up wins over Washington, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallin in recent years.

‘This one doesn’t need a title,’ Haye added. ‘It’s the perfect fight for Derek’s last dance – two British warriors giving it everything one last time. It makes perfect sense.’

Chisora is said to be in full training camp already, with official fight details and the rest of the card announcements to follow.
