Wreckage of Michail Antonio’s £260k Ferrari ‘listed on eBay’ after horrific crash last year that ex-West Ham star was ‘lucky to survive’

The wreckage of Michail Antonio’s crashed £260,000 Ferrari GTC4Lusso was listed on eBay for £40,000′.

Antonio, 35, almost died last December when he crashed the supercar having careered off the road near Theydon Bois in Essex.

The crash, which occurred in Epping Forest, saw him end up in his passenger seat and he was trapped for more than 45 minutes while fire crews attempted to free him.

Antonio had been driving home from West Ham’s Rush Green training ground when he collided with a tree. He required surgery after suffering a broken leg and was lucky to escape with his life.

The last 10 months have been painstaking for Antonio in recovering and judging by the eBay listing, cited by Instagram star Mat Armstrong, a BMX and car transformation fanatic, Antonio may have also taken a financial hit from the crash.

The wreckage was listed by Tylers Auto Parts UK and it is uncertain whether the asking price of £39,995.00 was met or the listing taken down but it is no longer on the popular auction site.

The car was originally listed as ‘unrecorded damage’, suggesting it was not claimed on insurance, and looked far beyond anything that could be repaired.

Photos taken at the scene of the crash show extensive damage to the right hand side of a grey Ferrari, the same condition it appeared as on eBay 10 months later.

Antonio may have been hoping to recoup some of the money spent on it by selling the remains for any expensive parts that could be salvaged.

It is not known whether the former Premier League star went through an insurance company to recoup the cost of the flashy car after his accident.

The Premier League player had previously been involved in a car crash on Christmas Day back in 2019.

The footballer had crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini Huracan into a bin shed of a family home in Balham, south London while dressed as a snowman after losing control of his car.

Antonio previously opened up about the financial consequences of the crash.

‘I was struggling to get insurance this year,’ he said three years ago. ‘No-one wanted to insure me!

‘I had to go to a specialist insurance company, so my insurance this year is a madness! I’ve got a G63 now. They were offering me £10,000 for an [Audi] A3 to insure, or get a G63 and pay double the price but get to drive a G63 instead of an A3.

‘I’d rather pay £20,000 and drive a G63 rather than pay £10,000 and drive an A3.

‘It was Christmas Day. Still to this day it has hurt me. I miss that car. Basically, I was driving but it was a slippery road.

‘In the car it corners nicely and holds the road, so I was going 30-35mph on a 30mph road. As it holds corners I think I don’t need to break, I’m just going to go round the corner like I do all the time.

‘But as I go round the corner, it skids. So as it skids, I s*** myself and I slam on the brakes – the worst thing you could do on ice as you just speed up when you’re meant to just go with it kind of thing.

‘So I slam on the brakes, skid and go up on the curb – but I don’t really remember it, everything just happened so fast.

‘Then smoke comes out of the front of the car, and the engine is in the back so I’m thinking ‘the car is gonna blow up!’, even though it’s just the airbags.

‘So I’m having to jump out of the passenger side of the tiny car. It’s a madness.

‘And the thing is, I was in a snowman costume as well. I don’t get why I didn’t take it off in there, sort it out.’

After his near-fatal accident last December that followed that incident Antonio released a statement, saying: ‘This year, I know exactly what I’m grateful for: being alive.

‘I want to take a moment to acknowledge something I’ve come to realise—I’ve spent so many years taking life for granted. I made plans for the next day, the next year, always assuming tomorrow was guaranteed.

‘I’ve seen close friends pass away, witnessed others face near-death experiences, and even then, I didn’t fully grasp just how precious life is.

‘What I’ve been through recently has opened my eyes. Life is fragile, and every single moment matters.’

Antonio shattered he femur in four places but is now back playing football again.

After an impressive recovery that saw him training just four months after the collision, Antonio and West Ham took the decision not to extend his deal after the two parties were unable to agree on new terms.

Antonio had featured for West Ham’s Under-21s in a match in August, but is now training at rival Premier League club Brentford.

The forward, who is West Ham’s record Premier League goalscorer, is understood to live close to Brentford’s training ground.

Reports have claimed the Bees are not expected to offer Antonio a contract despite allowing him to train with Keith Andrews’ side.

Jamaica boss Steve McClaren expressed hope Antonio will be able to secure a deal in the near future, but revealed the forward had sustained an injury setback to rule him out of their latest squad.
