Shedeur Sanders finally gets some good news in desperate wait to kickstart NFL career

The Cleveland Browns will be listing quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the second quarterback on their depth chart for their upcoming road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This move was announced by head coach Kevin Stefanski, who will stick with rookie Dillon Gabriel as the starter for Week 6.

Earlier in the week, the Browns traded former starter Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.

It left something of a vacuum on the Browns’ depth chart in the quarterback position, a bizarre turn of events considering their roster makeup in the summer.

Cleveland began the season with five total quarterbacks: Flacco, Gabriel, and Sanders – as well as Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson.

But Watson’s recovery from a torn Achilles has been complicated – leaving his status for the rest of the season up in the air.

Pickett was cut from the roster before the season began and Flacco was benched after four lackluster starts.

It left Gabriel to take over from Flacco for his first NFL start in London against the Minnesota Vikings.

But after Flacco’s trade, only two healthy quarterbacks remained on the main roster for Cleveland.

So it should not come as much of a surprise that Sanders now sits second on the depth chart behind Gabriel – who was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft this year.

Cleveland has one quarterback on their practice squad – Bailey Zappe – but it’s unclear if he will be called up for Sunday’s contest.

Sanders has yet to take a snap in the NFL regular season.
