Some Bee Network bus drivers will take industrial action on Friday, Saturday and Monday

Some bus drivers across Greater Manchester have announced plans to strike for a further three days amid ongoing pay negotiations.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said drivers from two companies within the publicly controlled Bee Network would not work on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

Drivers have already gone on strike twice in recent months after talks broke down between the Unite union and bus operators.

But how will the strikes likely impact passengers, and how you can ensure you reach your destination?

When are the strikes?

The strikes are scheduled to take place on Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Monday 13 October.

Buses will operate as normal on Sunday 12 October, apart from some early morning and late night services which will be impacted by strikes on Saturday and Monday.

Which services are impacted?

Drivers who are union members and employed by Metroline and Stagecoach intend to strike.

Bee Network services in Tameside, Trafford and Stockport – as well as some services in south Manchester and in parts of the city centre – are expected to be affected.

Some school buses will also be impacted.

A full list of impacted routes is on the Transport for Greater Manchester website.

What should I do?

TfGM has advised bus passengers to check ahead of time if their service will be impacted, and to allow extra travel time.

Trams and trains will operate as normal, with bus tickets being accepted on trams.

Bus tickets will also be accepted on some Northern Rail and TransPennine Express trains during the strikes.
