Arsenal suffer MAJOR blow as Martin Odegaard leaves the field in the first half against West Ham with yet another injury

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has once again suffered an injury that has seen him leave a game early.

The midfielder was starting alongside the likes of Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres in an exciting attacking line-up from Mikel Arteta, but lasted just 30 minutes before having to leave the field.

It’s been a frustrating season for the Norway star, who has so far started six Premier League matches this season but left the field injured in three of them.

That first happened against Nottingham Forest on September 13, when he was substituted after 18 minutes with a shoulder issue that saw him miss the draw with Manchester City a week later.

He made his return against Newcastle in the following Premier League match, but was clearly not over the shoulder issue and was withdrawn after eight minutes.

And it was deja vu for 26-year-old on Saturday. This time he managed half an hour before picking up what appeared to be a knee injury on this occasion.

The home captain cut a frustrated figure as he sat on the turf and awaited treatment, seemingly aware that his afternoon would be coming to an early end again.

He covered his face with his shirt as he left the field, and manager Arteta showed him a sign of sympathy as they crossed paths.

Martin Zubimendi replaced Odegaard, and Declan Rice gave Arsenal the lead not long after.

He will at least have the international break to get over the issue if needed before Arsenal’s next game on October 18 ahead of a busy schedule featuring both Premier League and Champions League games.
