Revealed: Who punters like ahead of the 2025 NRL Grand Final – including one multi where a footy fan could land over $36,000 from a $200 outlay

  • NRL Grand Final is on Sunday night in Sydney
  • Melbourne Storm favourites with TAB at $1.70
  • Brisbane Broncos offering value at $2.15

For many NRL fans, the Grand Final is like Christmas Day – the standout date on the sporting calendar each year.

The 2025 version sees Craig Bellamy’s Melbourne Storm take on Michael Maguire’s Brisbane Broncos on Sunday night at Accor Stadium in Sydney for the ultimate prize.

The storylines are obvious – Melbourne looking to atone for defeat in last year’s decider, with Brisbane chasing redemption after falling short in 2023.

Both sides were beaten by Penrith, but with the Panthers watching on with envy this October, the NRL will have a new champion for the first time since 2020.

That happened to be the Storm, where footy legend Cameron Smith guided his team to victory in what proved to be his final career game.

The Daily Mail spoke to the TAB about some bold bets leading into this weekend’s big dance – and punters didn’t disappoint.

In Sunday’s NRL Grand Final, prop Payne Haas will be a key figure as the Broncos chase their first premiership since 2006 – and one punter has outlaid $5000 with TAB on the enforcer to win the Clive Churchill Medal as man of the match

If Michael Maguire guides the Broncos to NRL premiership glory, one punter will snare almost $37,000 as part of a multi after picking the Brisbane Lions to win the AFL flag

If Michael Maguire guides the Broncos to NRL premiership glory, one punter will snare almost $37,000 as part of a multi after picking the Brisbane Lions to win the AFL flag

One stands to win almost $37,000 from a multi after parting with $200.

Chris Fagan’s Brisbane Lions stunned Geelong at the MCG in the AFL Grand Final on September 27 – and if the Brisbane Broncos lift the NRL premiership trophy, the fearless punter will be on cloud nine.

Elsewhere, another footy fan bet $20,000 on Brisbane to win, at odds of $2.15.

Victory over Melbourne will see a tidy profit of $23,000.

A third believes ironman Broncos prop Payne Haas can win the Clive Churchill medal at $8.50 – so much so they spent $5000 for the opportunity to collect $42,500.

One Melbourne Storm supporter is clearly confident – they parted with $15,000 at odds of $1.70 for their team to win the Grand Final.

Adrian Bauk, Trading Manager, US and Domestic Sports at TAB, expects a betting plunge leading into kick-off.

‘I’d say we will see some larger style bets from cashed up punters after Saturday’s racing,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘(Storm winger) Xavier Coates has also been a very popular pick for first try-scorer or anytime try-scorer.

‘Credit to the punters who also backed multis with the Brisbane double, at one stage the Broncos got out to $23.

‘And as always, gamble responsibly.’
