  • Julia Robinson was leading the count with two games to go

Footy fans have claimed Broncos NRLW star Julia Robinson was robbed of the Dally M Medal after the winger was rested by coach Scott Prince leading into the finals.

Robinson, 27, led the count with two games to go, but was reeled in by Brisbane teammate Tamika Upton, who went on to claim the individual honour for the second time in her career.

Upton snared the Dally M Medal in 2023 when on the books of Newcastle.

‘So being rested in round 10 cost Julia Robinson…it’s a team sport but I hate seeing players taken out of consideration because of a coaches decision,’ one supporter said on X.

‘Imagine getting rested and losing the Dally M by 3 points,’ posted another.

‘My heart is broken for her, that’s gotta hurt so bad,’ a third weighed in with.

A humble Upton acknowledged the ‘incredible’ season of her teammate.

‘We’ve seen what she’s done, she’s been incredible,’ the fullback said at the ceremony from Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse on October 1.

‘I was telling her she deserved it and she was telling me I did. We are best of friends and really good teammates.

‘It’s an honour to get this award.

‘It’s a privilege and just a credit to the teammates I have at the Broncos.’

Upton – widely regarded as the best player in the NRLW – has also had a commanding season.

She scored 19 tries in 12 games to lift the Broncos into Sunday’s grand final against the Roosters, who are unbeaten in 2025 under Dally M Coach of the Year John Strange.

Former touch footy prodigy Upton was also the yardstick when it came to try assists and line-break assists.

The NRLW decider is at Accor Stadium in Sydney from 4pm on October 5.
