Baseball fans were angry at a team after they felt misled by a graphic revealing that a manager wouldn’t be returning – with many believing that it was a death announcement.
Earlier in the season, the Los Angeles Angels announced that manager Ron Washington would be stepping away indefinitely due to health issues.
Washington never returned to the team throughout the rest of the season, with the team providing scant updates.
On Tuesday, two days after the regular season came to an end, the team posted a graphic with a sky-blue background, clouds, and two pictures of Washington.
The caption read, ‘The Angels have announced that Manager Ron Washington will not return for the 2026 season.’
However, many initially interpreted the style of the graphic to mean that Washington had passed away from whatever health issue he was dealing with.

But some believed that this graphic was a far different announcement than a retirement
The Angels were blasted in the comment section underneath the post.
‘Good grief with that graphic; I thought he passed away,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Another comment read, ‘That graphic is crazy, I thought he became an Angel.’
‘I know you have an Angel theme, but I had a mini panick attack that he had died. Great manager that will be missed. Hope he has a happy retirement!’ another user said.
‘Jesus I thought he died with this background,’ one comment said.
