Liverpool’s miserable performance against Galatasaray was compounded by injuries to two key players in the 1-0 defeat.

Alisson immediately waved to the medical staff when he went down to save a one-on-one from Victor Osimhen in the second half.

And Hugo Ekitike appeared to grab his hamstring after stretching for a loose ball just minutes later.

Both Alisson and Ekitike were subbed off and seem likely to miss the huge Premier League game away at Chelsea this Saturday.

Slot will no doubt feel the injuries were completely needless, with Alisson forced into action after Ibrahima Konate gave the ball away, allowing Osimhen to sprint forward.

Alisson bailed his team-mates out with a save low to his left but appeared to land awkwardly on his shoulder.

Hugo Ekitike came off with what appeared to be a muscular injury in the second half

He waved to the medical staff and was seen on the pitch but it became apparent that Giorgi Marmardashvili would need to come on.

If that wasn’t enough of a blow, some more sloppy passing led to Ekitike stretching to reach a ball bobbling away from him.

He stayed on the turf to receive treatment and then walked off as he too was substituted.
