- Produced a sporting sales pitch when interviewed
- Unfolded at the Brownlow Medal in Melbourne
- Charlie Curnow’s future at Carlton is clouded
Decorated Geelong midfielder Patrick Dangerfield taunted Carlton fans in a live interview during the Brownlow Medal coverage on Monday night in Melbourne.
With star forward Charlie Curnow considering a move away from the Blues, the likes of Geelong, the Sydney Swans and Gold Coast Suns are possible fresh destinations.
Well aware Curnow was in the room, Dangerfield produced a sneaky sporting sales pitch when chatting to presenter Rebecca Maddern.
Maddern asked the Cats veteran, 35, about his preparation ahead of Saturday’s Grand Final against Brisbane – and he pounced.
‘Day off tomorrow (Tuesday), so sort of quiet, probably head down to Charlie and Ed’s place down in Torquay,’ Dangerfield said.
Ed is Charlie Curnow’s older brother, himself a former footy star at Carlton.
Dangerfield was referring to the trendy bathhouse About Time, which is owned by the siblings and has become a ‘cat’s horn’ for the Geelong playing group.
As the camera shifted to Curnow on the Carlton table, the key forward was sporting a wry grin.

It didn’t long for footy fans to react on social media.
‘He (Dangerfield) knows exactly what he’s doing,’ one supported posted.
‘Ultimate troll,’ said another.
In recent years, Geelong have poached a number of superstars from rival clubs, with lifestyle a key selling point.
They include Western Bulldogs midfielder Bailey Smith and GWS forward Jeremy Cameron.
Dangerfield – who played his junior footy with the Geelong Falcons – joined the Cats in 2016 from Adelaide, and won an elusive flag six years later.
He has served as Geelong’s captain since 2023.
