Plans to demolish a former pub and build a shop and a drive-thru restaurant in its place have been submitted.

Moss Vale Hotel, on Lostock Road in the Davyhulme area of Trafford in Greater Manchester, has been blighted by vandalism and anti-social behaviour since it closed in September 2024.

Pub company Punch has submitted an application to bulldoze the building, which has been up for sale for £755,000.

Proposals include access for cars and cycle parking, as well as EV charging points and landscaping.

According to planning documents, the building has fallen into a state of disrepair that would require “significant capital investment to bring it back up to operational standard”.

The report noted: “A large contribution factor to its current state is the numerous break-ins, vandalism and anti-social behaviour, despite Punch’s best efforts to secure the property.”

The area is mostly residential but opposite the site is Kingsway Primary School, Egerton High School, a church, a series of community buildings and a fitness centre.
