The shooting left a man in a critical condition in hospital and three others wounded

A nightclub that saw four people injured in a shooting has said it will remain closed until further notice and is reviewing its security procedures.

The attack at Mango nightclub in Birmingham in the early hours of Saturday left a man in a critical condition in hospital and three others wounded.

West Midlands Police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday morning. Three women in their 20s and 30s were also questioned on suspicion of violent disorder.

In a statement posted on social media, managers of the club said the safety of guests and staff was their top priority, adding their thoughts were those affected.

The statement said: “We are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation and will continue to support them in every way possible.

“As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe environment, we will be conducting a full review of our security procedures and working closely with the relevant authorities.”

Managers of the club said safety of guests and staff was their top priority

Emergency services were called to the club at about 03:00 BST where they discovered three men and a woman had been wounded.

Acting Ch Insp Michael Clarke appealed for anyone with information to contact police.

He said the shooting happened in a busy nightclub on Bristol Street, one of the main roads out of Birmingham, and it was “vital” that officers heard from anyone who saw what happened, or who may have dashcam footage as they went past.

He urged anyone who was in the club at the time who saw what happened or recorded anything to contact West Midlands Police urgently.
