In their first home game since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the Buffalo Bills honored the murdered far-right political commentator.
Prior to kickoff of their game on Thursday Night Football, the Bills posted a graphic with his name and his birth and death dates while also cycling through images of the TurningPoint USA founder and his family.
Somber music played out as reporters on the ground noted that a few people stood for the display.
Fans in attendance told Daily Mail that reaction was mostly quiet with a few overheard boos when Kirk’s face was shown. One fan was even heard saying ‘It’s over a week, get over it”.
While the Green Bay Packers were instructed by the NFL to honor Kirk the day after his assassination, other teams had discretion from the league to make their own decisions on the matter.
Teams who honored Kirk were met with some backlash from fans. Buffalo was no different.

‘Not surprised but still disappointed. Why honor a non apologetic racist, homophonic misogynist,’ one Bills fan posted to X.
Another said, ‘Gross and disappointed,’ while a different Bills fan remarked, ‘Charlie who?’
‘If we lose tn I now know why,’ said another member of Bills Mafia.
Yet another Bills fan said, ‘I’ve been a fan of the Bills for 30+ years but NOT ANYMORE! This is a completely disgusting display of ( yo the advert is literally “Hunt” about a guy that got murked out in the open).’
NFL teams have been caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to honoring Kirk – with teams receiving negative reactions for both decisions.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, nine teams held tributes specifically to Kirk in Week 2.
Other teams, like the Houston Texans, decided to honor ‘all victims of violence and natural disasters across the country’ instead.
