Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel left fans stunned with his bizarre postgame reaction to his team’s latest loss.

Before the Dolphins’ 2025 home opener even kicked off, Miami fans took to the sky to voice their fury over the state of the team, calling for the head coach to be axed.

And the afternoon only got worse for McDaniel as his Dolphins slumped to 0-2 thanks to a 33-27 defeat against divisional rivals, the New England Patriots, as boos rang out around Hard Rock Stadium.

Despite finding himself in the hotseat, McDaniel did little to quell the fanbase’s outrage with his crazy postgame speech.

‘To win games, you have to win the game and not lose the game, honestly,’ a despondent McDaniel told reporters following Sunday’s game. ‘And that is how you lose the game.

‘You’re moving the ball down the field, you’re first-and-10 and then you find yourself at second-and-20. That was critical.’

“Uhm, we’re, to win games you have to win the game, umm, not lose the game… honestly. And that, that is how you lose the game.”

McDaniel’s obvious and blunt assessment of the game of football left fans around the league dumfounded as many asked how he still has a job.

‘He’s gonna get fired Friday morning,’ one social media user claimed in response to a clip of McDaniel’s press conference. Another agreed, saying: ‘dude’s days are numbered.’

‘And here I thought I knew everything there was to know about the game of football and now, out of nowhere, I find out that in order to win the game, you have to win the game, not lose the game. Mind blown!,’ one sarcastic fan posted.

‘WTF are (sic) saying, we know that it’s common sense. If you don’t win you loose. Get the hell out of dodge. You were are a fluke!,’ another added.

‘Holy s*** if i was a Dolphins fan id (sic) be p****d this guy was my coach,’ another chimed in.

Sunday’s defeat was just the latest nail in the coffin for McDaniel following a disastrous opening 33-8 annihilation at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts.

And fans have made it perfectly clear that they want McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier on the chopping block.

As fans gathered at Hard Rock Stadium for Sunday’s game, a banner was flown overhead that simply read: ‘Fire McDaniel. Fire Grier.’

Anger among the fan base was already bubbling away after a disastrous 2024 season in which Miami started 2-6, went 6-3 down the stretch and missed the playoffs.

To compound things, the Dolphins haven’t won a playoff game in more than two decades.

Yet, despite the mounting frustration at the current regime, McDaniel played down concerns over his job security.

‘I think if I worry about my job security, I won’t be doing my job, and I think that inherently is against all things that I believe in,’ the coach told reporters on Sunday.

‘I’ve never felt entitled to any sort of – I’ve never felt entitled to this position, and it’s very important for me to spend all of my waking hours worrying about exactly how to do my job and all the residual effects of that are there’s a lot of people affected.

‘I won’t spend one moment thinking about all the things that people – whatever people want me to think about. I’m thinking about this team and the Buffalo Bills here after I get done with this podium.’

McDaniel’s hoped of keeping his job face yet another tough challenge when the Dolphins face the 2-0 Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Thursday Night Football.
