Foul-mouthed Emmys winner shouts out NFL team in controversial acceptance speech

The Philadelphia Eagles got a shoutout during a controversial Emmys acceptance speech on Sunday night.

Hannah Einbinder, the comedian and actress, won her first ever award at the ceremony to honor television excellence – taking the honor for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

As she wrapped up her speech, she concluded with a voice of support for her favorite football team – followed by two political statements: ‘Go Birds, f**k ICE, and free Palestine.’

Einbinder was born into a Jewish family as the daughter of SNL original cast member Laraine Newman and writer-director Chad Einbinder, who is a native of Pennsylvania.

CBS, which aired the telecast, muted the line live on air.

The comments made by Einbinder come off the back of an open letter signed by thousands of people in the entertainment industry about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine.

Einbinder, along with 3,900 others, signed a letter saying they won’t work with Israeli institutions and film companies ‘implicated in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.’

Paramount, the parent company of CBS, was among the first studios to respond to the letter – saying they ‘do not agree with recent efforts to boycott Israeli filmmakers.’

‘Silencing individual creative artists based on their nationality does not promote better understanding or advance the cause of peace,’ the company added.

Einbinder must have felt like a winner in more ways than one Sunday after the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in a re-match of Super Bowl LIX.

Philadelphia won 20-17 – holding on at the end to continue Kansas City’s miserable season.
