2025 Emmy Awards live: Severance and The White Lotus vying for glory as anticipation builds – UK Times

The 2025 Emmy Awards will be presented tonight at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, celebrating the year’s standout television shows and performances.

Leading the pack of nominees is Apple TV+’s office-set sci-fi, Severance, with 27 nods. Mike White’s HBO wealth satire, The White Lotus, trails close behind with 23 nominations.

In the acting categories, Hollywood royalty, including Harrison Ford, Jean Smart, Seth Rogen, Cate Blanchett, Gary Oldman and Pedro Pascal, will face off.

Meanwhile, huge names like Sydney Sweeney and Stephen Colbert are among the list of presenters.

Hosting this year is stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze — can he be the clean, controversy-free comedian to unite America?

History has already been made with Adolescence star Owen Cooper becoming the youngest ever actor to be nominated in his category. At the other end of the spectrum, Kathy Bates, 77, has become the oldest person ever nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama.

The ceremony will air live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8pm ET/5pm PT in the U.S.

Leading the presenting lineup for this year’s ceremony are late-night host Stephen Colbert, Sydney Sweeney, Sofia Vergara, Kathryn Hahn, Jennifer Coolidge, Kristen Bell, Angela Bassett, Elizabeth Banks, Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sarah Paulson, Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, Tina Fey, and Kathy Bates.

Another Apple TV+ show, Seth Rogen’s The Studio, picked up 23 nominations in the comedy categories, breaking a record previously held by Ted Lasso for the most comedy nominations for a show in its first season.

Mike White’s The White Lotus also picked up an impressive 23 nominations, with its cast dominating the Supporting Acting in a Drama categories.

Weeks before the Primetime Emmys are announced, the Creative Arts Emmys are awarded.

The latter celebrates the behind-the-scenes and technical achievements in television. “This is the Emmys for the people that the people who run the Emmys don’t think should be seen on network TV,” presenter Sarah Silverman said when she opened the show as a presenter.

Kendrick Lamar won his second career Emmy for the music direction of his Super Bowl halftime show, while Barack Obama won his third in this year’s documentary narrator category. Neither were in attendance.

Altogether, the goodies add up to a hefty $25,000.
