  • Alleged assault occurred at Fulham pub on May 22
  • Pub is co-owned by England coach Brendon McCullum
  • Former Kiwi batsman is not accused of any wrongdoing

English cricket is reeling after it emerged a well-known figure in the game is being investigated over allegations of sexual assault and two counts of spiking.

According to the Daily Telegraph in the United Kingdom, the alleged incidents took place on May 22 in south-west London, namely the Fulham and Parsons Green area.

Police say the alleged sexual assault occurred at a pub in Fulham called The Boundary.

The pub is co-owned by England coach Brendon McCullum, but the Daily Mail can confirm McCullum is not accused of any wrongdoing.

McCullum was also not in London on the date of the alleged incident as England were playing Zimbabwe in a Test match in Nottingham.

The cricket identity was interviewed by police on June 5.

The England Cricket Board (ECB), who are aware of the allegations, have declined to comment.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: ‘Two women are believed to have been spiked with one also allegedly sexually assaulted.

‘A man in his 40s was interviewed under caution on Thursday, June 5.

‘Enquiries remain ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.’

The news comes after a county coach – whose identity was not disclosed by the Cricket Discipline Panel – was suspended for nine months in August after inappropriate behaviour to two members of staff in 2023 and 2024.

A CDC statement said: ‘He engaged in inappropriate and sexualised messaging, including sending images of his erect penis, to more junior female members of staff at a CCC [county cricket club].

‘On one occasion he attempted to kiss one of the more junior members of staff.’

Last November, a professional coach – also unnamed – was suspended for six months for ‘inappropriate sexual behaviour’.

Chris Haward, the managing director of the Cricket Regulator, said that ‘removing sexual misconduct from the game is a priority for the Cricket Regulator’.

England will soon embark for their highly anticipated Ashes campaign in Australia, with the first Test in Perth from November 21.
