A college football rivalry game in North Carolina was interrupted by plumes of smoke wafting across the field from a food truck which went up in flames.

Wake Forest was hosting North Carolina State in Winston-Salem to play out their annual rivalry game when clouds of smoke were seen on the broadcast.

While the smoke did not halt play, it did leave many in attendance at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium worried.

The source of the smoke was the food truck owned by Choc’s Barbeque Co. and Southern Catering – which was located on the outer concourse of the stadium.

When the ESPN broadcast cameras approached the truck, giant flames were seen inside the vehicle.

A worker in the truck was also seen with a fire extinguisher, trying to battle the flames.

The smoke began pouring in when Wake Forest held a 14-0 lead over NC State in the first quarter of the game.

It’s unclear what became of the truck or the worker inside, however, the stadium was not evacuated and play continued.

Despite beginning the game with a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Wake Forest could not hold on to beat their rivals.

The Demon Deacons started the game up 14-0 and eventually led 24-14 before giving up 20 unanswered points to lose 34-24 and losing their conference opener.

Wake will look to rebound when they host Georgia Tech next week. Meanwhile, NC State puts their perfect 3-0 record up against another rival when they travel to Durham to face Duke.
