A new NFL season, but the same old Derrick Henry remained for the Baltimore Ravens as the running back made a blistering start to 2025.
The 31-year-old’s stiff arm touchdown, mercilessly pushing Bills safety Cole Bishop aside before reaching the endzone, set the tone for what very quickly became a vintage Henry performance.
By midway through the second quarter, he had reached 100 rushing yards through seven carries. If there were any concerns of Henry slowing down on the wrong side of 30 this season, he very quickly showed that those fears are misplaced.
It sent NFL fans into raptures on social media.
‘Annual “Derrick Henry is way too damn big to be that athletic” tweet,’ Pat McAfee wrote about the 6’3, 250lbs Ravens star. ‘Henry’s about to rush for 300 yards tonight.’
‘Not sure how Derrick Henry still looks like this in his 10th year,’ Sports Illustrated NFL reporter Albert Breer posted.
An NFL fan by the name ‘Captain Touchback’ wrote: ‘For some people their worst nightmare may be falling from a plane. For defensive backs…it’s Derrick Henry with momentum.’
What’s more for Henry is that his touchdown saw his go sixth on the all-time list of rushing touchdown leaders with a tally of 107, overtaking Jim Brown.
Next in his sights is the great Walter Peyton, who ended his career with 110 to his name.
And judging by Sunday night’s showing, it won’t take Henry long to beat that at all.
