Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was spotted in attendance at the US Open final.

Guardiola was present in New York to cheer on fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz against Jannik Sinner.

The City boss was taking some much-needed time away from football, with his side having lost 2-1 away to Brighton prior to the international break.

This isn’t the first time that Guardiola has attended a major tennis tournament.

In July 2024 he was seen in the Royal Box on Centre Court with his wife Cristina Serra at Wimbledon for the match between Cameron Norrie and Alexander Zverev.

On that occasion the crowd playfully booed Guardiola as he took his seat.

There were plenty of other famous faces present at the US Open final, with much of the focus on US President Donald Trump.

Basketball star Steph Curry was also seen watching on.

Guardiola previously revealed that he admires the determination and resilience of tennis stars.

He said: ‘There is one detail that defines them, it is how hard they work.

‘People believing when you are on top of any sport, it is [due to] talents and skills.

‘But what would define [them] is they work harder than the other ones, they prepare better than the other ones. They are the best.

‘They are never satisfied and how they accept the bad moments or the defeats like it’s normal in life, in a sport and how to win the games and how they accept they are nervous or they are playing bad, how they come back immediately.’

City are back in action on September 14 when they host rivals Manchester United.

Against Brighton, City took the lead through Erling Haaland but the hosts equalised through a penalty from James Milner with Brajan Gruda netting a late winner.
