Micah Parsons is now a member of the Green Bay Packers, but the All-Pro edge rusher wasn’t always well received by his Cowboys teammates – including Dak Prescott – according to a new report.
Parsons’ contract standoff with the Cowboys and owner/GM Jerry Jones came to an end on Thursday as he was dealt to Green Bay for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Parsons also agreed to a fresh four-year, $188million contract with the Packers, according to multiple reports.
But by some indications, not everyone in the Dallas locker room will be sad to see him go, as Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that some of his now-former teammates viewed him as ‘egotistical’ and ‘self-centered.’
Breer added that his ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons’ podcast even created issues with certain players, including quarterback Dak Prescott.
While the likes of CeeDee Lamb, Prescott and the now-retired Zack Martin have negotiated for new deals in recent years, Breer noted that the trio ‘are/were very popular in the locker room.
‘That’s not the case with Parsons, who has rankled teammates in different ways…’ he continued.

Furthermore, the report added that there were ‘questions with Cowboys folks who’d been around [Parsons] about how much he truly loved football versus what football has done for him off the field.’
Ultimately, as Breer described, Parsons ‘lost the trust’ of Jones as the franchise elected to trade him to their NFC rivals.
It should be noted that some of Parsons’ teammates did express disappointment at the news of him being traded.
Trevon Diggs posted a broken heart emoji on X and Lamb posted a crying emoji alongside a graphic of Parsons in a Packers jersey to his Instagram story.
Receiver KaVontae Turpin added: ‘Yeah this league s*** crazy lol.’
Jones, too, said ‘I really like Micah’ as he spoke to reporters after the deal.

Parsons laid on a medical table during his team’s final preseason test of the summer
‘I appreciate the four years we had him here. He’s a great player. No question, I could have signed him in April… This was by design. I did make Micah an offer and it wasn’t acceptable and I honored the fact that it wasn’t done how he wanted – through an agent.’
Both Parsons and Jones previously acknowledged that Jones was not engaging Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, during negotiations, while Parsons said in a statement after the trade that ‘not everything was in my control.
‘My heart has always been here, and it still is,’ he said. ‘Through it all, I never made any demands. I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process.’
Jones noted at his press conference on Thursday that the team did offer Parsons a deal worth more than $40million a year, but that contract was reportedly longer than the player wanted to commit to.
Ultimately, he was handed $136 million in total guarantees from Green Bay – a record for a non-quarterback.
Parsons and his old teammates will face off when the Cowboys host the Packers on September 20.
