The NFL world was stunned on Thursday as the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Packers – but a former Dallas star believes the move is part of a ploy to get Arch Manning.
In the deal, which was first reported by ESPN, the Cowboys picked up two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in exchange for Parsons.
And while many Cowboys fans are up in arms about the deal, ex-Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant thinks Jerry Jones has a plan up his sleeve to land the heir to the Manning dynasty.
‘Arch Manning will have a star on his helmet. Nobody can tell me different,’ Bryant wrote on X after the deal broke.
And after a fan suggested that the Cowboys would not finish with a poor enough record to be in range for Manning in next year’s draft, Bryant doubled down.
‘Dallas will have 3 first round picks they wouldn’t mind giving away,’ he said, referencing their own pick as well.

Bryant later responded to another fan who viewed his comments as a slight on current quarterback Dak Prescott.
‘Don’t have nothing to do with Dak… Cowboys want to go in a different direction with everything.. the writing been on the wall.’
Manning, the nephew of Super Bowl winners Eli and Peyton and grandson of former Saints star Archie, is set to spend at least one more year at Texas as succeeds starter Quinn Ewers as the team’s starting quarterback.
He saw extended action after Ewers got hurt against UTSA last season, and tallied an impressive 806 passing yards and eight touchdowns in parts of three games (two starts) as Ewers recovered.
However, Arch predicted in an interview with Texas Monthly that his grandson would not enter the NFL Draft following the 2025 season.
Archie, for his part, later told reporters that he was ‘just taking it day-by-day for now.’

Nonetheless, he would certainly bring some star power to Dallas, who certainly look to be in re-tooling mode following their blockbuster trade of Parsons.
The fearsome pass-rusher has already agreed to a reported four-year, $188 million contract with Green Bay, which will include a total of $136million in guarantees – a record for a non-quarterback.
Parsons will also rake in $62million in the first year of his new deal.
The Cowboys will face Parsons for the first time when they host the Packers on September 28.
