Russell Martin will continue as Rangers manager and be in the dugout for Sunday’s Old Firm clash against Celtic at Ibrox.
Furious supporters called for Martin to be sacked in the aftermath of Thursday night’s humiliating 6-0 defeat against Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off tie.
But Daily Mail Sport understands Rangers are determined to stick with Martin for now and that his position is not under immediate threat.
Martin has had a disastrous start but the beleaguered boss was adamant post-match in Belgium that he retains the support of the club’s hierarchy and their new American owners.
Representatives of the 49ers Enterprises are expected to be at Ibrox for the match against Celtic on Sunday, with the atmosphere around the club turning toxic over the past couple of weeks.
The performance and result against Celtic could yet change things, but Martin’s position is understood to be safe for now.
