  • Interview was on NRL on Fox in 2012
  • Two footy identities went toe to toe

Wests Tigers great Robbie Farah has revealed why he is still offside with rugby league identity Matty Johns following an infamous interview in 2012.

Speaking on the Unscripted podcast with former NRL star Josh Mansour, Farah recalled why he was so fired up.

‘He (Johns) was all nice to me in the green room (at the Fox Sports studio in Sydney) beforehand,’ the premiership-winning hooker said.

‘He (Johns) was just starting out (on TV) back then, I don’t know whether he was trying to make a name for himself.

‘He started coming at me with this line of questioning and tone… he called our team (Wests) soft and I didn’t like it.’

Farah went on to add that he ‘stood up’ to Johns – and he didn’t mince his words.

The former NSW Blues dummy-half bluntly pointed out that ‘people also have an opinion on you’.

Farah also told Mansour he ‘wasn’t going to cop’ the aggressive line of questioning from Johns – and sought to defend his Tigers teammates as club captain.

When asked about the aftermath, Farah admitted he is still very angry.

He also pointed out there is ‘no need to pretend to be mates’ after a falling out, intimating that the pair never patched up their differences.

Speaking at the time, Johns admitted he would have ‘blown up’ if he was in Farah’s shoes.

It followed Farah also quashing a rumour that he and Tigers teammate Benji Marshall were no longer on speaking terms.

‘Just got ambushed on NRL on Fox,’ a seething Farah tweeted after leaving the TV studio.

‘Pretty fired up ATM to be honest and pretty p**sed off. Wanted to unleash more than I did.’

Johns later hit back on Triple M’s Grill Team, adamant he didn’t ‘ambush’ Farah.
