Former UFC champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has branded the wrestler assaulted by his son in a viral clip this weekend ‘stupid’.

Rampage’s son, budding MMA fighter Raja Jackson, was in attendance at a private professional wrestling event held by Knokx Pro Entertainment in California on Saturday.

A clip circulated widely on social media shows Jackson entering the ring during the event whilst streaming live on Kick before unleashing an apparently vicious attack.

After tackling Stuart Smith – who goes by ‘Syko Stu’ – to the floor, Jackson can be seen repeatedly striking the wrestler more than 20 times while he lays motionless on the ring canvas.

Clips from earlier in the stream show how Jackson was enraged by an incident that had taken place prior to the event between him and Smith.

In the hours before the event Smith could be seen hitting Jackson with a can, seeingly with the intention of including the footage as part of the evening’s theatrics.

Smith could later be seen apologising to Jackson, and the pair shook hands on several occasions before the vicious assault inside the ring.

Speaking following the incident, Rampage Jackson claimed Smith was ‘stupid’ for attempting to involve a non-wrestler as part of a storyline.

‘This is what happened. He went to a pro wrestling event with his coach,’ the 47-year-old said on his live stream

‘Those pro wrestlers, they be just as crazy as MMA guys, right? The pro wrestling guy don’t know my son and he hit him over the head with like a can or beer can or a bottle or something.

‘My son didn’t know it was coming. They didn’t tell my son. And he hit my son over the head.

‘I guess he thought my son was a pro wrestler or something. And Raja didn’t react. He didn’t do anything, because I told Roger not to get punched.

‘But still, the n**** hit my son over the head. And then he asked my son, “you ain’t going to sell it?” When you in pro wrestling when you sell it’s because that s*** fake.

‘So this motherf***** that hit my son is stupid. So in order for me not to go to f****** jail, I gotta talk to his coach.’

The 47-year-old added that Raja was not aware that the stunt was going to take place

Smith was taken to hospital in the aftermath of the assault. His brother took to social media this weekend to reveal that he is currently ‘stable but in critical care’.

‘Thank you everyone for your prayers, concerns, and kind words for my brother Stu.’ Andrew Smith wrote on Facebook.

‘He’s currently stable but in critical care. At this time we’re focused on his recovery and appreciate all the support.

‘Also we currently do not have a Gofundme set up, any links posted are not affiliated with us.’

TMZ reported that the Los Angeles Police Department were called to a wrestling event on Saturday and that the incident is currently under investigation.
