Everton fans blast £1,200 upgrade as a ‘disgrace’ after first Premier League game at Hill Dickinson Stadium as club vow to fix teething problems

Everton fans have labelled a section of their new Hill Dickinson Stadium as a ‘disgrace’ following the team’s first Premier League match at their new home.

The Toffees ran out 2-0 winners over Brighton thanks to goals from Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner either side of half-time.

While the sweet taste of victory will be a welcome one for many supporters, some fans were irked by the state of the Club View Hospitality section – which costs supporters £1,200 per season.

Taking to social media, fans on X, formerly Twitter, were quick to voice their complaints over not being able to get served a drink at bars in the concourse.

One user wrote: ‘That Club View is an absolute disgrace.

‘Never in my life could I not get served at Goodison. No chance with this Club View.

‘Spoke to stewards who admitted it is atrocious and asked/encouraged to complain. Blamed American catering company.’

A second added: ‘Absolute shambles in there. They’ve learnt nothing from the Roma game. There is nothing premium about it at all.

‘The only space with only one catering outlet. And not allowed anywhere else in the stadium. Still looking for our dedicated private bar.’

Another fumed: ‘It’s carnage. It doesn’t have the infrastructure for everyone to spend their tenner. Either spend your tenner or watch the whole game. You can’t do both.

‘Staff haven’t got a clue what’s going on. The club need to admit they made a mistake, give everyone £190 back and bin it off.’

A further comment read: ‘I genuinely can’t believe they’ve built a near billion pound stadium and still have one fella pouring one pint at a time, there are machines that can do six pints at a time and you just have someone swapping the trays around.’

Everton are looking to address the problems that arose during their first Premier League match at their new ground – with their next home fixture coming against Mansfield Town of League Two in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Their next home game in the league is against Aston Villa on September 13.

The club said in a statement: ‘We want to thank you for being part of Club View for today’s first Premier League match and three points at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

‘We’re incredibly proud to have welcomed you into our new home, but we also recognise that your Club View experience can also be improved.

‘We are aware some supporters were impacted by a technical issue with the reconciliation of the £10 food and beverage. This, in turn, caused disruption to food and drink purchases without being able to take advantage of credit.

‘We are acting on all the feedback received. We can also confirm that we will load £20 credit for every Club View Member (instead of the usual £10) for the Aston Villa fixture on 13 September.’

While moods off the pitch appeared to be mixed from fans over the new stadium, Everton were able to impress on it.

Victory over Brighton saw them earn their first three points of the new league season after an underwhelming 1-0 defeat at Leeds last Monday.
